Understanding Skills Development and SETA Learnerships

Perfecting the art of Skills Planning and a Review of Skills Development Legislation

Gaining a meaningful understanding of Skills Development Legislation and the art of skills planning will enable you to bridge the skills gaps that exist in your organisation as well as having a positive impact on your B-BBEE Scorecard.

This course is intended to be interactive and will equip delegates with a good understanding of skills development and the need for workplace implementation of skills development initiatives. The need for ongoing skills development is essential and the regulations are continually changing.

Companies must be seen to be active in regard to skills development in order to access discretionary funding from the SETA’s and are now required to submit minutes of skills development forum meetings when applying for funding.

In addition to funding, a solid Skills Development strategy will also benefit your organisation in terms of employee morale and succession planning, as well as enabling you to achieve maximum points for the Skills Development element of your B-BBEE Scorecard.

By attending this course you will gain an understanding of how you develop a “culture of learning” in your organisation as well as clarifying the importance of the Skills Development committee and how they can support and enhance the effort of the HR Division as a whole.

Your comprehensive programme includes:

– Brief overview and revision of the Skills Development Act, Skills Development Levies Act and the NQF Act and the impact they have on your organisation
– Reviewing the Employment Equity Act in relation to Skills Development
– Understanding changes to legislation – SETA’s and the Quality Council for Trades Occupations (QCTO) and the effect this will have on your Skills Development strategy
